Calgary’s Central Library is everyone’s Library. In addition to serving a growing community that lives and works downtown, the Central Library supports all Calgarians by:
- Providing the public space and size to accommodate diverse communities
- Responding to the needs of specialized user groups, such as business and arts, new Canadians, and people with literacy challenges
- Providing in-depth subject expertise to customers, and to staff in other branches
- Offering a depth and breadth of material that would be too expensive to duplicate in every library branch
- Serving as the “front porch” of the community, welcoming visitors and providing information on our city and its rich heritage
The Central Library is the flagship and headquarters of a vibrant library system serving the entire city. It extends the reach and capabilities of every branch location, providing technology and access to the breadth of resources and services available within the library system.
It is the most cost-effective service model in North America.
