  • Montreal and Salt Lake City received 100% of their funding from government sources.
  • Calgary Public Library will be seeking funding from government sources and has set an ambitious goal of raising 10% from private sources.
Funding Calgary's Landmark Library

Calgary Public Library is committed to investigating all sources of funding for the project, including:

  • City of Calgary
The Community Investment Fund will provide core funding for the new downtown central library project. The Library will seek further support as details of the project and the budget are confirmed.
  • Provincial Government
Support from the Provincial Government will be sought to enable the Calgary Public Library to continue its leadership role among Alberta libraries. Calgary Public Library accounts for 40% of all public library circulation in the province and 41% of all Alberta public library card holders.
  • Federal Government
Calgary Public Library will pursue federal capital funding opportunities as they become available.
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship
Calgary Public Library will seek support through corporate and grass roots giving. Opportunities will be provided for naming and sponsorships. A fundraising campaign will invite broad support from all Calgarians: library users, citizens, corporate and community groups.
  • Private Sector Involvement
Where economical and practical, Calgary Public Library will secure private sector involvement in the new downtown central library project, including retail opportunities at ground level.
